Ground Control Shelter for the Shadow 200 Tactical Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (TUAV) Chandler/May Inc.’s UAV Shelter division builds the Shadow Tactical Unmanned Vehicle Ground Control Shelter for AAI Corporation. Chandler/May, Inc. has delivered over 125 HMWWV mounted shelters over the last 5 years. The Shelter is currently operational in several military deployments.
Chandler/May incorporates the latest technologies into these shelters using Chandler/May’s unique integration and test processes for rugged systems. The Shelters utilize a wide range of Chandler/May capabilities, including the latest in machine shop technology, cable fabrication and rugged systems packaging, as well as the incorporation of high-end embedded VME Sun based workstations, video and communications products.
Ground Control Shelter (Cockpit View)
All systems, racks, cables, components, subassemblies, monitors, computers, recording electronics and mechanical assemblies shown are built/procured, integrated and tested by Chandler/May, Inc.
Chandler/May, Inc. builds, installs and tests four workstations in each shelter. The two SUN workstations running Solaris are used by the Mission payload operator and the Air Vehicle Operator for complete control of the mission, the payload and the Shadow airframe.
Two high-end PC workstations are also installed in each Shelter. One PC performs flight recorder operations. The second PC workstation is used for pre-mission flight simulation and training for the operators. This workstation has scene simulation and graphic overlays that allows the operators to train without an actual Shadow vehicle being operated.
VME GCS Workstation and Portable Ground Control Shelter Workstation
The Portable Ground Control Station (PGCS) is a subset of the shelterized TUAV Ground Control Station. The PGCS version is packaged in ruggedized transit cases to enable easy transport and rapid set up and tear down in the field. The PGCS, in conjunction with the Portable Ground Data Terminal, has full functionality to launch and recover the air vehicle, operate the payload, and receive and display payload data.

Transportable Rugged Trainer
The Transportable Rugged Trainer is Simulator/ Trainer for Tactical UAVs (TUAV). The ruggedized system is housed in a weather-tight rugged transport rack and a 24” deep shock-mounted rack frame. Removable heavy-duty casters and lift rings are included for maneuverability. The front and rear covers are gasketed and have pressure relief valves. There is an accessory pouch inside the rear cover. Rack mount surge protection outlet strip, KVM switches, a four-port Ethernet Hub and a 15 inch flat- panel LCD display with keyboard and touchpad are also included.

Air Defense Communication Platform (ADCP)
The Air Defense Communication Platform is a shelter mounted communication system with Command and Control (C2) capabilities. Multiple VME Processors and peripheral and communication links are installed in the ADCP. Installed components include Dual-Sparc VME controllers, a 1553 Communication system, and RS-232/422 communication links.The system is designed for easy removal of peripherals to enhance testing and repair. All enclosures/peripherals are shock mounted for rugged operation. Chandler/May, Inc. built and installed custom I/O panels and cables, and completed full system level test.
Air Defense Communication Platform uses multiple VME processors, 1553 and various communication links to provide Command and Control (C2) capabilities for marine missile platform.
